Color Splash Art by Nancy Koehler

Several years ago I got the urge to paint watercolors. So I did a few paintings and I liked them but I kept thinking about how I could do these and make them into jewelry. Fortunately I was able to figure out a way to do this. I am not a very watery watercolorist because I love color so my watercolors are usually bright. I set about making mostly smaller pieces that I could sell for a reasonable price. I was thinking that youngsters could have their own works of art to wear. Happily it was a big hit.

Fortunately, not just the young like them. All women can appreciate the splash of color these pieces provide for the right outfit.  I have enjoyed watching the many folks that have looked at all my pendants and made their choice. Put it over the head and away you go, art to wear indeed

After awhile I decided to make some larger pieces of jewelry. Oh my, was I excited when I did the piece shown at the top of this page. The colors are so saturated and rich. Of course it didn't hurt that these are my favorite colors.

The beautiful one at the top of the page has been adopted and gone to a good home but soon there will be more. Here are some pictures for you to get a good idea of what they are like. I make these as pendants, earrings and necklaces. I also use a different liquid medium for my paintings, Alcohol Ink. The colors are vibrant! These pieces are UV protected to protect the colors.

As all artists do I am growing and changing. I have started doing a brand new version of my Color Splash Jewelry. These are statement pieces that will really set you apart. Come see these at Stone Soup Galleries in Chesterfield Mall.
