Often people ask why I took the name McKenzie's Jewelry instead of my name Nancy Koehler for my business name. Here is the scoop. When I began my business officially and registered my business name in the state of Missouri, I didn't want one of the names that were prevalent at the time. I love my family name, McKenzie, and that seemed to be a good name to hang on too. It made my Dad very happy.
So things can change to my name but my business name remains the same. People do love to talk to me about both names when I am at shows though. They have been real conversation starters. There must be a Koehler or a McKenzie in every family.
McKenzie's Jewelry by Nancy Koehler all started with a broken necklace in the late 1990's and continues today. Making, making, making jewelry of all kinds. When I look back at pictures of jewelry I have made over the years and think of all the women who these pieces have gone home with it just amazes me. Over the years my skills have grown and I have changed as an artist. I make a different style of jewelry today than in the past. This is as it should be. We change as we go.
Today, I am pulling back from doing shows. Instead, I show my Color Splash Line of Art to Wear Jewelry at Stone Soup Galleries in Chesterfield Mall, Chesterfield, MO. The Gallery is on the upper level near California Pizza Kitchen.
I also have my work at The Art House in Fulton, MO. This is a fun gallery with many cool artists.
I have such a good time creating my jewelry. It is fun to make these pieces for someone special, I just don't know who you are yet. At this time in my artistic journey I have changed a lot. I no longer produce the metal pieces I did in the past.
I do a whole new thing. I make an original painting, then I cut it up or cut pieces out of it and make jewelry with it. It is light and very easy to wear. You need to come see it for yourself and try it on.
